1.3. How is employment eligibility verified?
The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that all U.S. employers verify the employment eligibility and identity of all employees hired to work in the United States after November 6, 1986. To implement this law, employers are required to complete the Employment Eligibility Verification form (Form I-9) for all employees, including U.S. citizens, when they are hired and no later than three business days after they start work. You fill out Section 1 online. Later, you will receive an email with Section 2 instructions.
